What to expect your first time at Inner Balance

Classes

What class do I start with?

Pilates Reformer

We recommend starting with a Gentles class if you are new to Pilates or just getting back into a workout routine. This  class is slower paced and allows you to learn the terminology and get comfortable with the reformer. We recommend sticking with Gentles classes until you are confident to progress into our Essentials class or to our more challenging classes.

Yoga

We recommend starting with a Slow Flow or Beginner class if new to Yoga.   This is a flow class that moves a little more slowly and holds poses for a little longer.  Because of the slower pace, some find these classes more accessible than our Vinyasa Flow classes.

       Barre

We recommend starting with our Barre Basics class if brand new to taking a barre class.  This class is just as described, basics.  Here you will learn the terminology and how to hold each position properly while still feeling the burn of a great workout.

How do I book a class?

We use the VAGARO online booking system. The easiest way to book your classes on the go is to download the Vagaro app and simply search “Inner Balance - Pilates & Yoga Studio". Once you’re logged in you can make purchases, book, waitlist, reschedule or cancel your classes as well as view your account details, schedule and history.

** Please make sure that your pop-up blocker is turned off when scheduling for classes online.  **

What do I need to know for my first class?

Please arrive 10 minutes early to your first class. Our Front Desk Receptionist will give you a tour of the studio, help you find your Pilates or Yoga/Barre room and answer any questions that you may have.  We do request you arrive prior to your scheduled class start time.  If you arrive after a class begins, you will be asked to attend another class either that same day or on another day.

What do I need to bring?

  • Please wear comfortable active wear that will enable you to move freely.
  • Grip socks are essential for safety and hygiene reasons. If you forget to bring your own, you will be asked to purchase a pair from the studio for $15.
  • Chilled water is provided and we ask that you bring your own water bottle to minimize waste. If you do happen to forget, we have cups available.
  • Sweat towels are also provided, but feel free to bring your own.

How many people are in each class?

With a maximum of 5 clients per Pilates Reformer class, and 8 clients per yoga/barre class, our small group sessions allow our trainers to focus and assist each individual.

Cancellation Policy

  • Cancellations need to be made more than 2 hours prior to your class beginning to avoid forfeiting your session. We understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise, however as there are limited spaces available, we need to enforce fair and consistent standards. Cancelling a session will allow waitlisted clients to take your place in the class.
  • No shows: Will automatically be charged $20 for failing to show to a scheduled class.

What if my class is cancelled?

We require a minimum of 2 people to run a class. Classes can be cancelled up to 2 hours prior to class. You will be notified via text or email if your class is cancelled.

What if I’m on a waitlist?

Always join a waitlist. Waitlists move quickly and you are highly likely to get into the class! You will be notified via text and/or email if you have been added to the class. Note; Please respond to confirm or cancel your position. If you do not respond and do not show to class you will forfeit your session.

I am pregnant, can I attend classes?

You can attend group classes up until 16 weeks, after that point we can offer private sessions. If you are a regular member at Inner Balance please email us for more information innerbalancepiyo@yahoo.com.

Can I still do Pilates/Yoga/Barre if I have an injury?

It will depend on your injury and your road to recovery. We may ask for a medical certificate from your specialist. Group classes involve a full body workout, so in some instances this can be quite challenging for both the injured client and the trainer.

How old do I have to be?

You must be 16 years or over to attend our group classes.  We understand there can be expectations, please contact us directly to further discuss any class for your teen.

What facilities do you offer?

We provide complimentary towels, drinking water, and have a small changing facility in the studio. We do not offer showering facilities.

Massage Policies

What to expect:

  • Your massage therapist will ask preliminary questions to determine your overall health and your health and wellness goals.
  • The massage therapist will consider information about your physical condition, medical history, lifestyle, stress levels, medications and any areas of physical pain that could affect your massage therapy outcome.
  • This information will help the massage therapist structure the session to achieve your health and wellness goals.
  • Before your massage, you’ll be asked to remove clothing to your level of comfort.
  • The massage therapist will leave the room while you undress. Take off only as much as you are comfortable removing.
  • Lie on the massage table, underneath the provided sheet, which will cover your body except for the part being massaged.
  • The massage table is padded and may have extra attachments or cushions, such as a face cradle, which allows you to lie facedown without turning your head or neck.
  • Remember to breathe normally.
  • After your massage, the massage therapist will allow you to slowly get up and get dressed in privacy.

We understand that unanticipated events happen occasionally in everyone’s life. In our desire to be effective and fair to all clients, the following policies are honored:

24-hour advance notice is required when cancelling an appointment. This allows the opportunity for someone else to schedule an appointment.

No-shows

Anyone who either forgets or consciously chooses to forgo their appointment for whatever reason will be considered a “no-show.” They will be charged for their “missed” appointment. This amount must be paid prior to your next scheduled appointment if credit card is not on file.

Late Arrivals

If you arrive late, your session may be shortened in order to accommodate others whose appointments follow yours. Depending upon how late you arrive, it may be determined if there is enough time remaining to start a session. Regardless of the length of the session actually given, you will be responsible for the “full” session.
